Paul Field

Paul Field is a singer, author, producer, director and scriptwriter and the previous managing director of the internationally successful children’s entertainment group The Wiggles.

Paul, along with his brother Anthony Field, the blue Wiggle, was a founding member of the band The Cockroaches. It was the death of Paul’s daughter Bernadette in 1988 from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) that ultimately led to the formation of The Wiggles.

Paul has had over 35 years in the entertainment industry and in the last few years has overseen the complete restructure of the company, including the launch of the new members of the group and the production and placement of the new TV series Ready, Steady, Wiggle! both in Australia and overseas.

Paul has worked on over 12 TV series and 42 videos (broadcast in over 100 countries) including The Wiggles, Dorothy the Dinosaur and The Kingdom of Paramithi, producing artists such as rock legend John Fogerty, Pop Princess Kylie Minogue, La Bamba star Lou Diamond Phillips, and country music icons, Slim Dusty, Troy Cassar Daley and Kasey Chambers.

In 2008, Paul was elected as a member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, was a judge in the International Emmy Awards and for the last 13 years, a judge for the ARIA awards.

He wrote the documentary Everybody Clap, Everybody Sing, helped produce The Wiggles tribute album Rewiggled and The Wiggles Exhibition at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, which has been seen by over 200,000 people to date.

As well as his involvement in many TVCs and promotions for SIDS and Kids, Paul has done similar work for St Vincent de Paul Society, Soldier On, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Red Cross, Jesuit Social Services, Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, Action Aid, UNICEF, as well as organising the UNICEF concert to raise money for sanitation facilities and clean water in five villages in East Timor.

He recorded four albums and was awarded Gold and Platinum album status as the singer for The Cockroaches during the 1980s and in 2011 he released an album (The Field Brothers, 1964) with his brother John which charted in the top ten of the Australian Country Music Charts. In 2014, The Cockroaches released their music catalogue on iTunes and a ‘best of’ collection on CD. They reformed for some sold-out shows in Sydney and Brisbane as well as TV performances on The Today Show Gold Telethon and Channel Seven’s The Morning Show to promote the releases.

Prior to his success as a musician, Paul Field studied at the Australian Catholic University and for many years taught English, History and Drama in high schools. Paul then worked for three years at the Supreme Court of New South Wales and was then appointed as a member of the Investigations Team at The Royal Commission into the New South Wales Police Service. After three years’ of working with this team, he wrote the book Sympathy for the Devil under the alias Sean Padraic. The book tells the story of the key witness at the Royal Commission and is an expose on police corruption in New South Wales. It was later re-released and re-titled ‘Confessions of a Crooked Cop‘ to tie in with the mini-series Underbelly: The Golden Mile. At the end of the Royal Commission, having worked informally with The Wiggles since their inception, he became The Wiggles Manager.

Now Paul Field has added guest speaker to his long list of roles as he shares his experiences and insights into his decades of success within the entertainment industry.

In 2020, Paul Field retired from his role with The Wiggles to pursue other exciting opportunities.
