Former Wallaby Captain and Rugby Union Legend
With over 10 years of experience in the mining industry, Nathan Sharpe combines his passion for people leadership, operational experience and sporting accolades to drive and develop high performing teams.
With over 100 matches played for the Australian Wallabies, 20 as Captain, Nathan played for over 15 years at the elite Australian level in rugby union.
When he retired as captain of the Wallabies in 2012 he was Australia’s most-capped forward with 116 tests and the second most-capped player ever. His durability saw him become the most-capped player in Super Rugby history with 154 games for the Queensland Reds and Western Force. He played in three Rugby World Cup campaigns. In his final year of international rugby in 2012, he was awarded, for the second time, the prestigious John Eales Medal, for Wallaby Player of the Year.
With his long list of distinctions and awards, Nathan has left an indelible impression on the game. While his presence on the field will be missed, Nathan continues to influence and inspire others off the field.
In 2021 Nathan transitioned out of sport and into the mining industry. He is now an owner and founder of Talisman Partners, a mining operations and services company and one of their services is centred on team cohesion and leadership development for mining and corporate organisations.
Nathan is also an ambassador of the Modified Rugby Program (MRP) which creates a community for kids that have learning and perceptual difficulties through the power of the rugby community and is also an ambassador of Wallabies travel now.
Nathan Sharpe continues to be a popular and frequently profiled member of the rugby community. He is respected worldwide for both his on-field efforts and engaging and affable off-field contributions, making him a much sought-after speaker for a wide range of audiences.
