Leonie Mellor

Leonie Mellor is a highly regarded senior journalist and producer with ABC News, Analysis and Investigations.
She has nearly 30 years’ experience in print/online, television and radio, and is currently Supervising Producer for ABC’s 7PM News Queensland. She has previously worked for Network Ten and News Corp, covering local news, major international events as well as politics at every level.
Her experiences have taken her across the country and overseas, for some of the most dramatic and newsworthy events of recent times.
She has covered natural disasters across Queensland, the Boxing Day tsunami from the devastated Indonesian province of Aceh, the Snowtown serial killings, and numerous court appearances of the Australians known as the Bali 9.
She’s also reported on numerous State and Federal elections.
Over the past decade, Leonie has hosted many conferences throughout Queensland. With her warmth, clear presentation style and sense of humour, she ensures speakers and panellists are comfortable and confident as they front an audience.
Leonie is a founding member of Women in Media Queensland.
She is passionate about her craft and Queensland and loves telling Queensland stories.
