Janine Perrett is a senior, award winning journalist and speaker who engages audiences with her experiences and insights gained reporting from Australia and overseas on business, politics and international affairs.
With a career spanning over three decades, Janine’s work has appeared in national print, television and radio. She is the presenter of the nightly program The Perrett Report on Sky Business News, The Friday Show on Sky News and So You Want To Be A Politician on Sky TV. Janine regularly appears on other Sky News current affairs programs including the Paul Murray Show.
Janine Perrett’s career as a journalist began at The Australian Newspaper where she was a business journalist. Moving to its head office in Sydney, her duties included writing and editing the financial section of the paper, before she moved to the news desk and worked as night news editor. In the 1980s she worked in London and New York as a foreign correspondent for that newspaper. During her tenure, she covered everything from the US presidential election to the Wall Street crash, conflicts in Chili and Haiti and the space shuttle disaster.
On her return to Australia Janine Perrett worked as business news editor for The Sydney Morning Herald before joining Channel 9’s Business Sunday as a reporter in 1990. She held that role for more than a decade, during which time she founded The Small Business Show, a show she presented for its nine year run.
After leaving Nine, Janine Perrett worked as a columnist for News Ltd and Fairfax newspapers. Additionally, she was a guest host on ABC radio and 2UE and appeared in various online roles. In 2007 she was awarded a prestigious Knight Fellowship to Stanford University in California for a year.
